Most independent stores set prices by instinct, or by copying a competitor. There is now a better place to start. Pricing Intelligence shows where your shelf prices stand next to the big box stores, item by item, every week.
How it works
You connect your point of sale. Vero reads your catalog and your sales, and matches every item you sell to the same item at large retailers: by UPC first, then by model number, then by attributes for house brands that don't share a barcode.
That last step is the hard part. About half of what the big box sells is private label, so a barcode match alone misses most of the shelf. Vero matches those items by size, material, rating and use, and shows you how confident each match is.
What's in the report
- Where you win. The items where you are already cheaper, ranked by how often each one sells, so you know what to put on the endcap.
- Where you don't. A short list of the items where you are over, weighted by how much they sell. Fix the few that matter and leave the rest alone.
- What each gap is worth. Vero doesn't change your prices. It tells you what is out of line and what the difference adds up to. The decision stays with you.
Tell your regulars
Turn on customer reports and the people who buy from you every week get a short note showing what they saved by shopping with you. You choose which items go out, and nothing is sent that you haven't approved.
What it costs
Nothing. There is no hardware, no new software at the register and no contract. Pricing Intelligence works with Square today; Clover, Toast and Epicor Eagle are in progress.
